Person Centred Therapy

Person‑centred therapy is a gentle, non‑directive approach that places you at the heart of the work. It’s based on the belief that people grow best when they feel truly heard, accepted, and understood. In this approach, the relationship between counsellor and client is central. You set the pace, and the focus is on creating a safe, empathic space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement. Many people find this approach helps them reconnect with their own strengths and sense of self.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a structured, practical approach that helps you understand the link between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It focuses on identifying unhelpful patterns and developing new, more balanced ways of thinking and responding. CBT can be especially helpful for anxiety, low mood, stress, and sleep difficulties. It offers tools and strategies you can use in everyday life, supporting you to make meaningful changes and feel more in control.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

ACT is an approach that helps you make room for difficult thoughts and emotions rather than getting stuck in a battle with them. Instead of trying to eliminate uncomfortable feelings, ACT supports you in developing a more flexible, compassionate relationship with your inner experiences. It also helps you connect with your values — the things that matter most to you — and take steps toward a life that feels meaningful and aligned with who you are.

Creative Therapy

Creative approaches offer alternative ways to explore your inner world when words feel limited, overwhelming, or simply not enough. This might include drawing, imagery, objects, metaphor, or other expressive techniques. These methods can help you access emotions, insights, and perspectives that are harder to reach through conversation alone. Creative work can feel freeing, playful, or deeply reflective, and it often opens up new pathways for understanding and healing.

My Therapeutic Approach

As an integrative counsellor, I draw from a range of therapies. My main areas of expertise are person‑centred therapy, CBT, ACT, and creative approaches, each of which is described below. Working integratively means I can be flexible and responsive, shaping the therapy around your individual needs so that our work together feels supportive, effective, and uniquely tailored to you.
